As I mentioned in my Scraphappy Day post, since discovering (finally) the joys of the famous felt rabbit and her (mostly) woodland friends, I’ve been hand stitching felt, stuffing heads and limbs and making miniature clothes like a woman possessed.
Hand stitching? Toy stuffing? Fiddly sewing? Me? Well, you know I always say ‘never say never’ and the results are so cute I am enjoying myself against all expectations.
I’m especially enjoying the clothes making part. I made the badger some dungarees in case he has some heavy work to do on the sett before winter does its worst.
A crushed velvet dress for the fawn in case there’s a Christmas party in the forest coming up.
(note to self – never sew with crushed velvet again, it slips and frays and misbehaves in all sorts of ways)
In an attempt to bring myself back to reality I laid out some fabric the other day to make myself a dress and there was so much fabric and such large pattern pieces that I thought ‘nah, let’s get back to the small stuff’.
So I did
Then, I added a cat to the mix. I gave her some unruly whiskers – horsehair I had previously begged from my horsey friend back in France which actually made the move with me unlike much of my craft stash – and felted her eyes partly because I thought they would look good but partly (mostly) because I have run out of small black buttons.
Then I made her some pyjamas.
Which gave me a good title for this well overdue blog post that I only got round to as my workroom is, once again, stuffed full of furniture from the other room while we wait for the carpet fitter to do his stuff this afternoon. Otherwise, that’s where I’d be.
Apologies for the variations in quality, lighting, etc. of the photos as they were all taken at different times, on different days and in different rooms. Still – at least I’ve shown you what I’ve been up to and proved I’m still here – in case you were wondering.

Oh my goodness they are all gorgeous. I really like blue rabbit’s jumper which didn’t get a mention. Did you knit it?

No! It’s a wine bottle jumper because we all know that wine bottles need jumpers on at Christmas. It came with a teeny hat to put over the cork.
I think life might be too short to knit a Christmas jumper for a rabbit although I might have had a go if I had a pattern.

look at you go!!!! sounds like you’re having lots of fun, with wonderful results! Have you looked to see if you can adapt any of the clothes patterns for BJDs lol?

I’ve tried a couple of things on the girl BJD that keeps getting left here for some reason but they need adapting as most are too big for her.

Oh, be still my trembling heart! I love ’em all. And how wonderful they are as group. Can’t pick a favorite, so I’m not going to. Are those cuties for your home, or do you have lucky recipients in mind?

Do you create your own patterns for the tiny clothes? The animals are charming. Will they be yours or do you have recipients in mind? I think it’s terrific to get caught up in a project and enjoy it so much you don ‘t want to quit! Good for you!

I intend to design some different ones eventually but the ones on the post are all patterns designed by CoolCrafting who also design the patterns for the various creatures. I’ve put a link to them at the bottom of the post.
I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them all at the moment. It is permitted to sell a limited amount ‘in person’ but not online so some might go into an upcoming Christmas fair.

Never in a million years…. but you’re clearly having loads of fun! I really love those tiny pyjamas, I think I’d enjoy making the little clothes too, the creatures maybe not so much. To each her own 😊

Never say never! I’m doing a metal stamping workshop on Saturday – just because there’s one just up the road from me and it’s something I’ve not done before 😁
I’ll probably get the animals out of my system eventually but the clothes are a joy to make and heaven knows I’ve got enough pretty fabric to play around with.

There are literally dozens of crafts I’d love to try, but lack opportunity here because of distance… You’ll have to tell us about the metal stamping, it sounds fun.

I have been wondering about you, so I’m pleased to see you crafting and sewing, and most importantly, enjoying yourself. These creatures are charming. It has been *years* since I made doll’s clothes, but I remember the joy. I love that tiny pair of PJ’s.

Ah! You’ve been caught by the Luna Lapin bug!! They are so addictive. Although I enjoy the animal part more than the clothes. I’ve just made Hamish, the Highland Cow. My father took a liking to him mid construction so I’ve been enjoying him sat on the side board for a few weeks before he gets wrapped up for his Christmas present. They have so much character!

Ah, I’m thinking about Hamish. There is a big ‘highland cow thing’ round here because a local farmer’s beloved Gladis was chased by a couple of dogs and she and her full term unborn calf were killed. There is now a campaign to make it unlawful to walk dogs off the lead around livestock.

I have definitely fallen down a rabbit hole – a friend of mine at Craft group introduced me to ‘Marmalade’ so I have some shorter, fatter ones on the go now too. My favourites so far, I think, are the badger and the fox. I might have a go at adapting a couple of them to make dogs. I ought to make a sheep as I’m surrounded by them here and I do have quite a bit of white felt.
